Instagram just came out with a cool new feature – INSTAGRAM NAMETAGS.
If you’ve heard about Instagram Nametags but you’re not sure how to find them… You’re not alone. That’s why I’m writing this now.
If you haven’t heard of them… It’s okay. They literally just came out. Like… less than twelve hours ago.
What is an Instagram Nametag?
An Instagram nametag is a QR code that is made specifically to be used within the Instagram app (Snapchat has something very similar).
This is a new feature that allows individuals to easily connect with new friends on Instagram. Have you ever asked someone what their username is on Instagram and they have to repeat it like 5 times because you can’t hear them in a crowded room – or it’s a random string of letters and numbers and you’re sitting over there going… WHAT?!
I was literally just in this situation earlier today. Someone was telling me about their new Instagram account – he told me the username and I repeated it back. Except I said it wrong… LOL
This new feature eliminates this issue. You can now scan a nametag on your phone making it super easy to follow another account.
Here’s what the name tags look like…
How do you find the Instagram Nametags?
When you go into your app – go to your profile. (To do this, click on your profile image on the bottom right-hand side).
There are three little lines up on the top right (we call it a hamburger). Click on that and it will slide over with several different options. Click on the “Nametag” option.
When you click on it, you have the option to customize your nametag. And they made it super easy to share as well!
Either you can take a screenshot, or you can hit the top right-hand icon again – it will bring up an easy share menu that allows you to send the image via text, email, messenger or any of your other messaging apps!
How do you scan in someone’s Instagram Nametag?
Super easy! All you have to swipe right on your screen within the Instagram app to open the camera function and then hover over the Instagram nametag of the person you want to follow!
Tap your screen and it gives you the option to follow or view his or her profile.
