How Often Should I Post On Social Media?

When it comes to content creation, one of the most common questions is “how often do I need to post?”

The answer is different for every industry and audience – but here’s what you need to know.

How often should you post?

What it comes down to is consistency. If you can post every single day, then do that. If you can’t be consistent and post every day, pick 3 times a week and start there. Whatever you decide to do, be consistent with it. It would be better to post 3 times a week than to post every day for one week and then not post for two weeks.

Benchmarks

Each platform has its own benchmarks. Posting on Facebook, you shouldn’t post more than 1-3 times a day. Same with Instagram. Twitter can be upwards of 6. Best engagement results are shown when you tweet 12 or more times every day. TikTok videos depend on how fast you want to grow; once a day minimum, but 3-5 times a day if you’re looking for massive growth.

The Downside of Not Posting

If you don’t post consistently, you’ll find that you lose people. You don’t stay top of mind, and a lot of times, people will forget about you. What’s worse is they might forget why they followed you and when you do start to post again, they’ll unfollow you!

If you go weeks or even months without posting, it says a few things about your brand. It says that you haven’t made your online marketing a priority. But if it’s been long enough, it can also make people question whether you’re still open!

How much is too much?

What if I annoy people by posting too much? Gary Vee talks about this in one of his videos. He says that you can’t possibly post too much. The people who want to hear from you won’t care. The best way to be sure is to test it. If you find people are unfollowing you or expressing frustration, then scale back. But stay consistent – don’t stop posting altogether.

It’s more about quality than quantity. Make sure that your posts are providing value.

Preventing Annoyance

A great way to prevent people from becoming annoyed with our content is to post a variety of content. Mix it up – don’t just post the same thing every day. Experiment with your content. Use a combination of photos, videos, and articles.

When it comes to posting… If you’re looking to grow – post more often and become more visible. If you’re looking to maintain, keep doing what you’re doing or scale back slightly!

Whatever you do, remain consistent.
