HOW TO STAY UP TO DATE WITH SOCIAL MEDIA CHANGES AND TRENDS

Social Media changes ALL THE TIME. Every day there’s a new change, whether it’s a functional change where the dashboards look different or it’s more of a behind the scenes change, like algorithms and trends.

Staying up to date on all the changes can seem difficult at times, and I have to admit… If you don’t stay on top of it, it gets VERY overwhelming.

But if you devote a bit of time each week to staying up to date, it doesn’t have to be so daunting. There are a few ways that we stay up to date at AIM Social.

 PODCASTS:

Podcasts are great for accessibility. You can listen to them while you’re driving, cleaning, showering or working. You don’t have to stop everything to devote time to it.

Some of my favourite podcasts are:

FACEBOOK GROUPS:

There are some Facebook groups that focus specifically on social media marketing and will update you with new features and changes as they happen. Join those groups! (Shameless plug – we have a Social Media Bootcamp that helps with that!)

WEBSITES:

There are sites like Social Media Examiner that post the latest updates and trends. They’re a wealth of information and are a great way to stay up to date.

FLIPBOARD:

This is one of my favourite ways to find the newest and trending articles on social media. Flipboard is an app/site that allows you to find the top articles on any topic or industry. I am able to flip through, find the articles that I need to read and save time by not having to manually search!

SOCIAL MEDIA:

I know… We’re looking for the latest updates on social media – but most platforms have their own social media accounts. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all have Twitter accounts. They all have Facebook and Instagram accounts. Follow them to get the most up to date information!

INFLUENCERS:

Follow social media influencers or thought leaders in the industry. They’re often talking about the changes and new trends, doing the research for you and just sharing the highlights so you can stay up to date.

Don’t ignore the changes until you have to spend days catching up. Absorb the knowledge throughout the week so you can be more effective and efficient in your social media marketing.
