So you’re on Instagram. You’ve posted a few photos and followed all your friend’s and family but you don’t have many Instagram followers. Now what?
The first thing you’re going to do is locate your target users and begin following them.
But let’s break it down.
- Locate your top competitors on Instagram. Who are the big three Instagram users from your industry or niche that have a large following?
- Once you’re on their profile, click on “Followers.” That large list there are your target users. Follow them.
- You won’t be able to follow them all in one sitting. Instagram will tell you to slow down or block you from following too many people at one time. Set aside a few minutes every day to follow a few more people.
- Once you’ve followed everyone from that user, find another one and begin again. Be sure to be posting daily on your account to keep new and interesting content. People won’t want to follow an account that isn’t active.
The second thing you’re going to want to do is to use relevant hashtags to your business in EVERY caption.

The third thing you can do to help increase Instagram followers is to leave relevant comments on the posts of people you think will want to follow you. All those people you just followed? Be sure to interact with them one on one. Like their pictures, leave comments, etc.
To sum it up… the more active you are on Instagram, the more followers you’re going to get. It’s not going to happen overnight, but if you use these three tips, you’ll be on your way to a large Instagram following!
